Making a Difference in a Young Person's Life
Youth in Proctor Care may have experienced difficult circumstances and may need additional support as they work through challenges.
Proctor parents help create an environment where youth can feel supported, build trust, develop healthy relationships, and work toward positive goals.
Every youth is different, which is why QYS works with proctor parents to understand each individual's needs and provide appropriate support.
Support from the QYS Team
Proctor parents are part of a team. You don't have to navigate the experience alone.
Quality Youth Services works alongside proctor parents to provide guidance, resources, and ongoing support. Proctor parents may work with therapists, treatment coordinators, and other QYS professionals as part of the youth's care team.
Support may include:
-
Ongoing communication with QYS staff
-
Professional guidance and consultation
-
Training and skill development
-
Therapeutic support
-
Assistance with challenging situations
-
24-hour on-call support for emergencies

Training for Proctor Parents
QYS provides training designed to help proctor parents understand the needs of the youth in their care and develop practical skills for providing effective support.
Training may cover topics such as:
-
Building positive relationships
-
Understanding trauma and its effects
-
Communication strategies
-
Managing challenging behaviors
-
Problem-solving
-
Encouraging positive behaviors
-
Developing life skills
-
Cultural sensitivity
-
Self-care
Training and ongoing support help proctor parents feel prepared to provide consistent and compassionate care.
Who Can Become a Proctor Parent?
Proctor parents come from a variety of backgrounds. Individuals who are interested in providing a safe and supportive home may be able to become a proctor parent if they meet the applicable QYS and state requirements.
The process includes completing required screenings, training, and home requirements before providing Proctor Care.
Our team can help you understand the requirements and guide you through each step of the process.
